The regional campaign "Sustainable Climate" implements 20 awareness workshops with the participation of 500 participants through trainers of the "Be an Ambassador" initiative
Within the framework of the regional campaign "Sustainable Climate", implemented by the Arab Center for Sustainable Civil Action at the Misr El Kheir Foundation, and in cooperation with the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development through its pioneering initiative "Be an Ambassador", 20 training and awareness workshops were implemented, in which about 500 participants from various groups participated.
The “Sustainable Climate” campaign is one of the activities of the Arab Center for Sustainable Civil Action, affiliated with the Misr Al Khair Foundation, and is implemented across the Arab world and in all governorates of the Arab Republic of Egypt, with the aim of raising environmental awareness of climate change issues, highlighting the importance of reducing the carbon footprint, and consolidating the concepts of sustainable development, in support of achieving Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the sustainable development goals.
The main topics of the workshops included:
1) Introducing the concept of the carbon footprint, methods for measuring it, and mechanisms for reducing it.
2) Discussing the effects of climate change on individuals and societies.
3) Presentation of adaptation and mitigation mechanisms to changing climate phenomena.
4) Linking sustainable development goals to local environmental action.
The most prominent workshop outcomes:
1) Training about 800 participants from various categories (civil society, youth, students, and others).
2) Implement practical and interactive activities such as the Zero Waste Day Challenge and an environmental treasure hunt.
3) Formulate practical recommendations to promote environmental behavior within local communities.
4) Measure the carbon footprint of organizations and individuals and come up with a number of proposals to reduce it.
These workshops come within a series of awareness-raising interventions implemented by the Misr El Kheir Foundation, in cooperation with partners, to support building the capabilities of local communities in dealing with environmental and climate issues, and promoting the shift towards a more aware and sustainable society.
